Antique Pen Wipe Knitting Doll In Glass Dome Circa 1860s

We are very excited to share with you this exceptionally special mid 19th century DOLL pen wipe. Why is this antique penwipe so special? The magic is that the little originally clothed bisque doll is knitting. Just look at those three tiny needles, the part knitted garment and that teeny ball of red wool in the basket by her feet. This felt pen wipe is so very decorative as it has also retained its original real, paper and silk flowers all around her feet.

She appears to be in traditional clothing complete with kid leather fur edged jacket. She is seated on a tussock as she knits with her three double ended knitting needles to knit her red wool socks or mittens.

She is a special, all original example. Sometimes pen wipes are cobbled together at different times, not the case here - she is 100% guaranteed all original, as intended at her creation in the 1860s

She is housed under the most special equally small antique glass dome on its original ebonised base with four bun feet.

Size: Pen wipe: 4 inch tall by 4 inch diameter Dome: 6 1/2 inch tall by 6 1/2 inch by 5 inch.

Condition: Both very good, restoration free. The glass dome is in good condition with old glue wear to the interior blue velvet liner. The black felt pen wipe is also in very good condition for its vast age. She does sit a bit on a skew, her needles are corroded. Her leather jacket and fur are dry with age. One or two silk flowers are a little loose. The base of the pen wipe has old glue attachment residue where she has become detached from the velvet lined base.
