Item Description

If like us you adore birds , this small antique vase will delight.

This quality miniature porcelain vase was produced in England during the early 19th century, circa 1815. The cornucopia vase is of miniature proportions and although unmarked as was common at this time, especially on smaller items; it has been produced to an excellent quality.

The exterior of the vase features two hand painted scenes, each depicting a beautiful bird on the ground. To the remaining two faces of the vase we find two intricately hand painted colorful butterflies. All very similar in quality to the pieces produced by the Wedgwood porcelain painter Aaron Steele (b 1765 – d 1849. With the buttery gilding still fresh and bright. This is such a decorative little vase with an appealing subject matter. This is the perfect item for anyone who loves birds and wildlife, or who collects Regency era porcelain.

Please see our collection of 18th and 19th century art and antiques listed separately in our store.

Measuring: Height 3 7/8 inch (10 cm) by width 2 7/8 inch (7.5 cm).

Condition: Not perfect. There is some very old damage in the form of a small chip to top rim, a circular hairline to base. All perfectly stable but we would not place water in this vase for dry flowers only now:)
