Antique Silhouette Full Length Mother And Child Fishing C 1840

This is a charming portrait silhouette that was painted in England during the 19th century, circa 1840. The silhouette is painted on paper and features a child showing their mother the fish they have just caught within the grounds of a country house estate. The foreground and background hand painted in washes of sepia ink. The silhouette is housed behind glass in its original bird’s eye maple veneer frame. A very unusual yet charming little scene, the perfect artwork for anyone who loves English country house art and antiques.
