We are delighted to offer you this fine quality, original cut paper silhouette that was produced in England circa 1830 by William Seville (b 1797 – d 1866). This example depicts a young woman in profile view with typical 1830 hairstyle and fashion.
This charming cut paper silhouette has been bronzed by the artist in order to bring out details like the sitter’s hair with Mantilla hair comb, coral. or pearl necklace and silk dress with balloon sleeves. William Seville was an experienced and talented itinerant silhouette artist, specialising in cut paper silhouettes.
The silhouette is housed behind convex glass in its original papier mache frame. The silhouette is complete with its original artist faded pink trade label printed on paper.
Measuring: Frame width 4 3/8 inch (11 cm) by height 5 1/8 inch (13 cm).
Condition: Light surface wear to frame. Glass is slightly dusty. Remnants of previous paper protection to back of frame.
