Item Description

This wonderful blue and white pearlware plate was produced in England by John Dawson during the early 19th century, circa 1805. This started life during the Regency era as a saucer for a matching teabowl. This is the perfect small plate to make a grouping on your wall, please see two others that are retailed individually all from the same previous collection.

John Dawson and Co (1799 to 1837) manufactured earthenware, pearlware and lusterware from the Low Ford factory in Sunderland, England. The plate features a blue transfer printed design with early floral decoration and a hatched border, very similar to an 18th century Meissen porcelain pattern (Blue Onion or Pomegranate). The base features the impressed ‘Dawson’ mark and decorative little painters mark in underglaze blue.

This is a decorative, early piece of transferware by a collectible manufacturer. We have not found another example in this pattern making this the perfect piece for a collector, or those of us who adore early blue and white.

Measuring: Diameter 4.75 inch (12 cm).

Condition: Small chip to foot rim and a small manufacturing fault to underside of the saucer.
