Chamberlain Worcester Porcelain Plate Exotic Bird Gilt Rim C 1815
Item Description
This ornate porcelain plate originates in England made by one of THE finest British porcelain makers around the 1815 period. The plate was manufactured by the top porcelain manufacturer, Chamberlain Worcester who were in operation from 1786-1852. The plate features a hand painted exotic bird with rich hand painted gilt decoration to the rim.
The plate has the finest white porcelain body with luxurious high quality gilding. You can easily see where modern ceramicists such as Alberto Pinto found their influence from. This gorgeous little plate features the very attractive Chamberlain Worcester, New Bond Street, London back stamp. Chamberlain Worcester was expensive to purchase, the factory only produced high quality wares, notice how on the back stamp it reads ‘Royal Porcelain Manufacturers.’ Chamberlain produced services for the Prince Regent, Lord Horatio Nelson and Lady Hamilton and many more important figures.
The plate would have been produced as part of an expensive dinner service; we also have another plate from the service which is sold separately in our store. We can only imagine who this fine service was produced for!
This is the perfect item for anyone who loves English country house art and antiques.
Measuring: Diameter 6 ¼ inch (16 cm).
Condition: Very good indeed, we would say unused. A tiny sliver of rubbing to the gilt at 11 o'clock. One small chip and two possible flea sized nibbles to the foot rim.
