RARE Early 19th Century Liverpool Creamware Mug Poor Jack Trifle For John Herculaneum C 1800
Item Description
This rare and decorative creamware mug was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1800. The mug features a monochrome transfer printed design titled ‘Poor Jack. A trifle for John.’
The scene features a young man getting ready to leave land via a large sailing ship, in the background we can see a large castle on the shoreline.
The mug was produced in Liverpool and the text illustrates a scene from the poem Poor Jack by Charles Dibdin (b abt. 1745 – 1814). We have included a previous owners note with the sale of the mug which features the poem.

Measuring: Width including handle 3 7/8 inch (10 cm) by height 3 ¾ inch (9.5 cm).
Condition: Old stable hairline to mug with associated old chip to rim.
