English Wax Over Papier Mache Doll 17” Blue Sleep Eyes Original Clothing C 1840

From a single owner wax doll collection, we are delighted to offer this scarce wax doll. This gorgeous wax over papier mache shoulder head doll was made in England around the 1840s . She is offered in all original condition including her platinum mohair linen pate, blue glass sleeping eyes with working pull wire mechanism from her waist. She has a linen cloth, sawdust filled body with stitched joints at knees and hips. She comes complete with her original 1840s clothing consisting of cotton lawn dress, perished blue silk waist sash, fine cotton full length petticoat, fine cotton full length chemise/bloomers. She has wax over papier mache lower arms and lower legs.

Size: 17 inch (43 cm)

Condition: Sound but as shown in our images, as is common with wax dolls from this era, stable cracks to all wax areas. Old missing flake of wax to right foot. All original clothing unlaundered with some occasional rust spots/ marking.
