Georgian Purse Netted Sea Green and Silver Thread Cut Steel Frame Circa 1820

This is just one from a very fine collection of early purses that we have been lucky enough to acquire.

This genuine George III period purse dates from the 1815 to 1820 period (for accuracy during the reign of Prince Regent as his father George III was incapacitated between the years of 1812 to 1820 with metal health problems).

This little charmer was very finely double netted in a pale sea green silk thread and a silver wrapped thread. The frame is of cut steel with its original top push button opener which opens and closes well. The matching three looped base tassel is a delight with its white metal loops and twisted balls.

Size: H 4 1/2 inch incl base tassel by 3 inch at its widest point. (H 11 cm by W 7.5 cm)

Condition: Good but this honey is showing gentle signs of her 200 plus years. Minor dulling to the cut steel frame. It opens and closes perfectly with a satisfying snap. Gentle darkening to the pale green silk and dulling to the silver thread.
