Item Description

This rare and decorative reverse painted print on glass was produced in England during the early 19th century, circa 1815. The hand-coloured reverse mezzotint on glass features a portrait of Marshall Blucher, Prince of Wagstadt.

Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher (b 1742 – d 1819), Graf (count), later elevated to Fürst (prince) von Wahlstatt, was a Prussian Generalfeldmarschall (field marshal). He earned his greatest recognition after leading his army against Napoleon I at the Battle of Leipzig in 1813 and the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

The portrait is housed in its original stained fruit wood Hogarth frame and is ready to hang! This is a historical piece that is perfect for anyone with a passion for history. The print celebrates the victors of The Battle of Waterloo over Napoleon in 1815.
