Merrythought Toy Parrot On Perch 1950s English

This fun and very characterful life size toy parrot was produced in England during the mid 20th century. The soft toy parrot was manufactured by Merrythought in Ironbridge, Shropshire, England. The company has been producing toys at the site since the 1930s

This particular model was only in production between 1958-65 and is looking for a warm, quiet home to see out his retirement. This lovely old toy parrot is offered in completely original well loved condition with its original cloth tag to the tail and original perch and string. He has glass eyes, soft silk mohair fur and felt feathered wings. Soft wadding stuffed body. His original metal claws are ribbon wrapped. We adore him and have called him Lory after Queen Victoria's pet parrot.

This handsome parrot will display excellently, a bright and decorative genuine vintage toy for your home. The perfect item for someone looking for something a bit different (no vets bills here) or anyone who has a passion for birds, parrots or vintage toys.

Measuring: Height 16 inch (41 cm) by width 4.25 inch (11 cm). Perch width 15 inch (38 cm).

Condition: Lory has been loved. His fur is worn in places, especially the back of his head (see images). The felt and fur have much faded commensurate with being a much loved toy, and of a good vintage age (63 years old).

He is a charmer, and we guarantee that Lory will become a much loved family member....oh dear, we are missing him already!!
