Miniature Staffordshire Pottery Jackfield Ware Hen on Nest Egg Holder SMALL C 1880
Item Description
A very sweet and very adorable little Victorian earthenware hen on her nest. Made around the 1860 to 1880 period, these little covered tureens were made to store your eggs. This one being so small would store just the one hen egg, or a few Bantam eggs! It is made from pottery with the distinctive Jackfield dark black, thick treacle glaze with gorgeous gilt highlights and raised white spots to her back.
Size: 3 1/2 inch tall by 3 3/4 inch by 3 inch at her widest (9 cm by 9.5 cm by 7.5 cm)
Condition; Good for her age, minor wear to 19th century gilding, one dot missing to her back, small fleabites to the inner top of her base. Nothing detrimental or unexpected with genuine aging.
