RARE Antique Childrens Plate Female Schoolfellows With Provenance C 1820 Female Education

This wonderful nursery ware plate was made in the Staffordshire region of England around the year 1820. This 200 years old plate is in fantastic condition. It features a monochrome transfer printed design titled ‘Female Schoolfellows, see those Regency dressed girl skippers in a row.’ The scene depicts three Regency era girls skipping in the grounds of a large country house estate. Notice their high waisted, Empire line muslin dresses. The plate also features raised floral detailing which has been hand painted in tones of red, blue and green. This was made at a period when female education was in its infancy in Europe and North America.

This is a fabulous example of early English nursery ware; this is a rare scene with very few known examples. This is the perfect item for anyone who has a passion for nursery ware or all things Regency/Georgian.

Measuring: Diameter 6 ½ inch (16.5 cm).

Condition: Light surface wear commensurate with age, minor chip to back of plate rim.
