Victorian Gothic Revival Brass Cabochon Photograph Frame Circa 1880 AF
Item Description
This is one of the most decorative photograph frames that we have handled in a long time.
This is a wonderful example of 1880s Victorian gothic design. The easel back photograph frame opens via a hinged section to reveal your favourite photograph! The photograph is housed behind glass with a decorative copper surround. We love the red cabochon and the extensive hand engraved detailing to the exterior and interior of the frame.
To open the frame to change the photograph. Undo the top nut only. The bottom nut does not undo, leave this nut on. With the top nut fully undone you can then push out the glass and backing card to change the photograph. To put back together you simply put the top nut back on and tighten slightly. The photograph in the frame is a modern print just for display ideas.
This is a top quality item, a luxurious photograph frame that displays excellently. One of a pair, each sold separately.
Please see our collection of 18th and 19th century art and antiques listed separately in our store.
Measuring: Frame width 4 ¾ inch (12 cm) by height 6 7/8 inch (17.5 cm). Aperture width approximately 2 1/8 inch (5.3 cm) by height 3 ½ inch (8.7 cm).
Condition: Light surface wear commensurate with age. As mentioned previously the rear bottom nut does not undo. The frame stands excellently and is ready for display.
