Victorian Portrait Miniature Painting Little Girl with Bonnet and Umbrella Circa 1880
Item Description
This delightful miniature watercolour portrait on card dates to the late Victorian era, circa 1880. This charming unsigned portrait depicts a little girl, one of a pair of sisters, her younger sister is sold separately. This unique portrait has a charm of its own because we do not see the little girl's face, rather peculiarly it is painted from behind. This dinky painting would make a fine addition to a nursery or special toy collector's room.
We see a cute preschool aged girl in her lace and pink mob cap with lemon cape over her matching lemon dress; her frilly pantaloons poke out from beneath. She wears white ankle socks and little black buckled shoes complete with scuffed heels. She is holding a closed parasol. This sweet watercolor is housed behind glass in dark stained wooden ribbed frame.
Measuring: Frame width 4 inch (10.5 cm) by height 5.25 inch (13 cm) by depth 0.5 inch (1 cm). Aperture width 2.75 inch (7 cm) by height 3.75 inch (9.5 cm).
